Participating in the $DOT Moonbeam Crowdfund Using polkadot js wallet

  1. You will need to acquire some dot tokens in your js wallet. Be sure you are using the chrome or Firefox browser extension for these. Please note the minimum allocation to the crowdfund is 5 dot and a polkadot wallet must have at least 1 dot remaining in it to be active.
  2. Have a multi-chain ethereum address. Although some exchanges may be supporting the crowdfund, it is best to use your own custodial wallet. Metamask is what I used. Your GLMR tokens will be sent to your metamask address, not your dot relay-chain address. This is because moonbeam is an ethereum compatible chain. Accessing the moonbeam chain on your metamask will be the same process as using a usual ethereum layer-two side chain such as matic or BSC.
  3. Sign to approve and delegate your dot. Connect your polkadot{js} to the official moonbeam crowdfund page: https://crowdloan.moonbeam.foundation/ When your ready click “contribute now”. This will take you the page where you will delegate your DOT tokens. You will receive your DOT tokens in 2 years. When GLMR tokens distribute, 30% of GLMR tokens will be distributed immediately with the rest vested and distributed over 2 years on a linear block-by-block basis.
